ELLIOTT ADAMS has been playing ragtime since age 10 and is now known internationally as a ragtime performer, sheet music collector, historian, writer, and composer. Besides playing solo piano, he has been the pianist with the Porcupine Ragtime Ensemble since its founding in 1989. His extensive collection of first edition ragtime, blues, and early jazz sheet music is available to researchers, musicians, and publishers. He has several notable solo piano recordings on the Stomp Off and PianoMania labels and can also be heard on several CD records of the Porcupine Ragtime Ensemble published by Miracle Music Co.
Elliott performed at the very first Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, Missouri in 1974 with some of the giants of ragtime, including Max Morath, Wally Rose, Eubie Blake, Terry Waldo, and others. He has played in every West Coast Ragtime Festival on the West Coast since it began in 1986. He is a practicing dermatologist in Sacramento, and is also an enthusiastic golfer. In his RagFest debut, he’ll be playing solo piano as well as two-piano duets with his ragtime colleague,MICHAEL CHISHOLM.
